MVYC will hold its annual Founder's Cup interclub regatta on Saturday, October 24th on the Potomac River off Dogue Creek, VA. The regatta is open to keelboats and dinghies, and will be raced in the waters adjacent to Fort Belvoir and the Mount Vernon estate.
Schedule of Events:
· 1015 - RC Boat on Water
· 1055 - First warning signal will be given for Spin Class
· 1100 - First Spin Start (PHRF)
· 1105 - First Non-Spin Start (PHRF)
· 1110 - First Dinghy Start (Portsmouth)
· 1530 - No Races Started Beyond this Time
· 1900 - Founders Cup After Party (Food, drinks, and music will be provided).
· 2000 - Award ceremony
Eligibility and Registration: Any boat with a valid PHRF rating for 2026 or any Dinghy with a Portsmouth Yardstick. A provisional PHRF rating for unrated boats may be obtained by contacting the MVYC Sail Fleet Captain with a request for the same by no later than Wednesday October 7, 2026. The entry fee is $75.00, and entries will be accepted by the RC on the water until 1030, the morning of the race. Registration can be paid online at https://mvyc.net/Sail-Fleet beginning on Monday, September 14th.
After Party Tickets: MVYC invites all competitors and spouses/significant-others to join the MVYC membership at the clubhouse at 1900 for the Founders Cup After Party. Tickets for members and guests are $25. Two complimentary after party admission tickets are included with each boat registration. Food, drinks, and music will be provided, and an award ceremony will be held at approximately 2000. The After Party shall conclude by no later than 2300.
As an event where alcohol is served, please note that the After Party is an adults-only event.
Event Apparel: Event hats are available for preorder through the registration portal. Pre-order for pickup at the regatta will end on October 4, 2026. Any orders for hats after that will be available for pickup after the regatta. A limited number of hats will be available for purchase at the After Party.

Participants are solely responsible for the decision to participate, race or continue racing in this event. By participating, competitors agree that MVYC is not liable and will be held harmless for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
